Eight days after the London-bound Air India plane crashed in Gujarat, authorities have identified 231 victims through DNA testing and handed over the remains of 210 to their families, a health official confirmed on Friday (June 20, 2025).
Among the identified victims are 166 Indians, 36 British nationals, seven Portuguese citizens, and one Canadian.
Dr. Joshi added that 155 of the Indian victims were passengers aboard the ill-fated flight.
However, the BJP-led Gujarat government has yet to officially confirm the final death toll from the disaster. Earlier authorities said that DNA samples from 250 victims—including passengers and those killed on the ground—had been collected for identification
